Merch by Amazon is currently only available in the United States to shoppers. However, that doesn’t preclude sellers from around the world selling on Merch by Amazon print-on-demand platform. In fact, we have quite the international community of members and customers here. Of course, one of the biggest questions for international sellers is how they actually get paid on Merch once their t-shirt design ideas start to gain some traction.
On the Merch by Amazon resource page, Amazon has provided some info on how to get paid on Merch specifically for international sellers, including the following question and answer:
I am an international content creator. How do I get paid for my Amazon sales?
Content creators with banks in supported countries can receive electronic payments from Amazon. Depending on your bank’s location, you may be eligible for either direct deposit or wire payments. At this time we do not support sending checks. From the “My Account” tab in the upper right of this page you can visit the payment and banking section to see if the country your bank is located in is supported at this time.
Prior to Amazon issuing a payment, the payment must meet the applicable threshold based on your payment type:
- Direct Deposit: $0 USD, €0 EUR, £0 GBP, ¥0 JPY, or $0 CAD
- Wire: $100 USD, €100 EUR, £100 GBP, ¥10,000 JPY, or $100 CAD
Provided your balance due exceeds the payment threshold, we will remit payment approximately 30 days after the end of the calendar month in which the product was shipped . For example, we would remit payment for products that shipped in April at the end of May, which is approximately 30 days after the end of April.
Amazon only supports electronic payments so you’ll need to make sure you’re bank accepts those in order to get paid on Merch. In their answer about this issue, they mention that “you will need to set up a bank account in a supported country.” They don’t mention any specific countries that may have issues, though we’ve read about Singapore being an issue in a Quora post.
In that same post, Payoneer is mentioned as a possible solution. We haven’t worked with them directly, but have talked with them at a handful of tradeshows and heard good things. If you are looking for a solution for getting paid on Merch by Amazon as an international seller, it’s definitely worth looking into them.
