POD Weekly #42
Creating Original Designs from Templates
Templates provide a great starting point, with a portion of the work already done, they are ready to customize to suit your needs. Of course, it’s the customization work the becomes the most important part of the design process when using templates in order to make sure you end up with original designs.
By definition, templates are easy to copy and to make them stick out from competitors, you’ll need to put a little extra work into making them great. Take time to go to the extra mile by crafting a message that resonates with your target audience, expressing it boldly with fitting design, and looking for ways to push the template further than others.
Take the time saved with templates and put them into pushing your ideas further, crafting your own brandable styles (and templates).
P.S. Many print-on-demand platforms, like Merch by Amazon, suffer from a huge number of copycat and unoriginal designs. Print-on-demand provides a tremendous opportunity to sell products without the hassle or costs of traditional inventory. Likewise, templates can make it much easier to get started. Rather than only seeing these as shortcuts, take the time saved to create Original Designs.
Our do-it-yourself design app, DesignJar, features a number of templates for you to get started creating unlimited eye-catching designs for print-on-demand products quickly and easily. Early Preview available now to all members, with plans starting at $9 per month.

“No matter which niche you target the ones that will be the most profitable will be the ones with the most passion and pride. A lot of the bigger passionate, pride-filled niches have thousands of products being promoted to them every time they open their browser. Niching down is where the biggest opportunities will lie.
For instance, instead of focusing on the broad law enforcement niche, you would drill down into sub-niches.”1

Merch by Amazon Review: Using Amazon’s Platform To Build a T-Shirt Business
Chris Benitez FBA Master
“Using the information you’ve gathered from the previous points, you should have a clear idea of the kind of t-shirt design guaranteed to sell on Merch by Amazon.
Your t-shirt design must be a big concern for you. It will help you separate from the other design available on Amazon. Coming up with a unique twist to a niche or topic that’s selling like crazy on Amazon is tough but doable.
If you’re a designer, then the responsibility of coming up with a t-shirt design falls on you. Using a t-shirt design software is a must, obviously. However, if you’re a merch entrepreneur and have zero design skills, then you need to enlist the help of professional designers to help turn your ideas into a profitable design.”3
“What other platforms are you selling on? Would you be able to survive without a paycheck from Merch by Amazon?”

“Yong recently had multiple conversations with people who had their Merch by Amazon accounts suspended. It is one of his biggest fear in the Merch community. Whether it was an honest mistake or not the Amazon is not our platform and everything that we worked for can be taken away. The boys the importance of a diverse income stream.
